Job Description

The Law Taxation and Financial Planning Department at Bentley University, located in the suburbs of Boston, Massachusetts, is seeking a full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor of Law to start in July 2017. With a strong faculty of teacher-scholars, Bentley strives to lead higher education in the integration of global business with the arts and sciences, information technology, and corporate ethics and social responsibility. The chosen candidate will teach both undergraduate and graduate law courses with a business focus. The chosen candidate may also be called upon to teach graduate taxation courses. The standard teaching load for the tenure-track years is 2-2 (two courses per semester). The chosen candidate will be expected to publish high quality and impactful scholarship in respected academic and/or practitioner journals. Assistant Professors at Bentley University are expected to focus primarily on teaching and scholarship during their tenure-track years but are also expected, to a limited degree, to engage in service to the University as requested by the Department Chair from time to time.

Required Qualifications

Candidates for this position should have demonstrated excellence in teaching and evidence of promise in producing high quality and impactful scholarship. Candidates also should have a proven recent track record of teaching both undergraduate and graduate law courses within a business program/curriculum and evidence of an ability to teach ethics within such law courses. The candidate must have a demonstrated interest in and ability to publish in law reviews or other widely respected academic journals. The candidate must have excellent academic credentials, including a J.D., admission to practice in one state’s jurisdiction, three years relevant work experience and a minimum of three years of university level teaching experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Proven ability to teach other undergraduate and/or graduate law elective courses within undergraduate business curricula and/or MBA programs and/or graduate tax courses within an MST or other graduate program will be considered favorably.
